Inbox

Your capture point for all new tasks

Inbox

The Inbox shows assigned top-level tasks that have an open status. Tasks appear here regardless of whether they have due dates, making it a broad view of active work assigned to you.

What is the Inbox?

Think of the Inbox as a holding area for:

  • New tasks you just captured
  • Assigned items that need processing
  • Ideas you haven’t scheduled yet

Using the Inbox

Quick Capture

Use the Add Task bar at the top of the Inbox. Type a title, pick a status, and press Enter. There is no global quick-add shortcut yet.

Processing Your Inbox

  1. Review each task - confirm it belongs.
  2. Add details - description, priority, labels, attachments.
  3. Schedule - set a due date (moves to Today/Upcoming) or mark Someday.
  4. Assign - choose a status, assignee, or project.

Inbox Zero

Many users aim for "Inbox Zero" - processing all tasks so the Inbox is empty. This workflow:

  • Reduces mental clutter
  • Ensures nothing falls through the cracks
  • Keeps your task system organized
  • Gives a sense of accomplishment

Keyboard Shortcuts (while editing)

  • P — Open priority picker
  • Mod+S — Open status picker (Add Task input only)
  • Mod+U — Open assignee picker
  • Mod+L — Open label picker

Shortcuts trigger only when focus is inside the Add Task input or Task Details.

Best Practices

Capture first

Add ideas quickly before they slip away.

Process daily

Review and organize your Inbox regularly.

Add enough context

Include the detail you need to remember what the task means.

Keep it moving

Process tasks into dates, projects, Someday, or completion.
